For many years, what many Christians thought was an affirmation was actually
a declaration, and what they considered a declaration was actually an
affirmation. Here's the difference between the two:
An affirmation is to be said severally over the course of time; it's a
constant confession based on God's Word (see Hebrews 4:14; 13:5-6). To affirm
something is to make it "firm" in the heart, from whence proceed the
issues of life.
On the other hand, a declaration is made once. When you declare something,
it's a faith-based one-time decree, a statement of faith (see Mark 11:22-24),
which is made once, without an iota of doubt, and considered a done deal.
Appreciating the distinction between these two, and being conscious of them,
will help you greatly in utilizing the power of the tongue in making your way
prosperous, dealing wisely, and having good success in life.
Lastly, it is important to note that affirmations and declarations aren't
mere words or positive statements born out of positive thinking; they're based
on God's Word, what He hath said, for it is written, "Who is he that
saith, and it cometh to pass, when the Lord commandeth it not?"
(Lamentations 3:37)
